The Syrian army announced on Sunday that it has taken control of a second residential district in the rebel-held eastern part of Aleppo. It is the second area to be successfully seized by the military in two days.
The army said it has taken full control of Jabal Badro, an area next to the Masaken Hanano residential district, which was retaken on Saturday.
Masaken Hanano was the first district captured by rebels in 2012, in a move that divided Aleppo into an eastern bloc held by the insurgents and a western district controlled by Syrian army. Retaking this district is part of a major government offensive to retake the city, which is now in its 12th day.
