Statistics from the Chinese Customs authorities shows that the total trade volume between China and Laos last year was about 2.8 billion US dollars. Chinese exports to Laos hit 1.2 billion dollars.

While imports from Laos reached 1.5 billion dollars. Chinese direct investment to Laos reached 5.9 billion dollars by the end of last year, while Laos direct investment into China reached 45.5 million dollars. China is Laos's biggest source of foreign direct investment.
