A wildfire erupted in Israel on Tuesday and is still rampaging across the country. Firefighters are trying to contain the fire in Nataf near Jerusalem.
Israeli border police searched homes on Friday evening to ensure residents had evacuated. Earlier on the same day, firefighters battled the flames in wooded hills around Jerusalem and in northern areas with the help of Palestinian firemen.
Emergency teams from Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Russia and Turkey are also lending their assistance. A Boeing 747-400 Supertanker, which is considered the most advanced fire fighting aircraft in the world, has been used to help put out the flames. Israeli police have arrested 13 people on suspicion of arson and terrorism.
