To the ice, where the league-leading Montreal Canadiens were at home to the Carolina Hurricanes. Since getting off to a 13-1-1 start the Habs have faltered a little picking up just a single win in five games.

And Max Pacioretty would face a tough tests in turning their fortunes around, as they hosted a streaking Carolina Hurricanes squad that had managed to win five straight games.

And the red-hot Canes continue to play well -- and break out with Victor Rask tipping this puck for Elias Lindholm who beats Carey Price top shelf. His second goal of the year makes it 1-buzz Carolina.

But about a minute and a half later Charles Hudon goes wide on the defenseman and steers a puck into the crease for Andrew Shaw to steer home. 1-1 game.

It would stay that way until the third, when Max Pacioretty is able to whack in a bouncing puck to make it 2-1 for the hosts. The Habs captain bounces it in off Cam Ward. His fifth of the campaign makes it 2-1.

And then Carey Price would do the rest in the Montreal net -- stopping Victor Rask from in close. This one he saves with his noggin in the final minute

He made 32 stops as the Habs win it 2-1 and put an end to Carolina's five-game win streak. 

Senators score final three goals to claim victory

Guy Boucher and the Ottawa Senators would be hosting Boston.

And the visitors are on the power play late in the openign period, Brad Marchand's shot is stopped, but David Pastrnak is able to spin and fire in the rebound. 1-zip Bruins.

Off to the second, and the Sens break out -- Mark Stone gets sent in and he beats Tuuka raask with a nifty deke and it is a 1-1 game.

Fast forward to the third period, Ottawa's Derek Brassard sees his shot blocked in front, and it ends up at the point for Chris Wideman who's seeing-eye shot beats the screened keeper. 2-1 Sens.

And Ottawa gets an insurance marker midway through the stanza -- Bobby Ryan sets up Kyle Turris, who fires it home from point blank range. Ottawa goes on to beat Boston 3-1.
