The elevated monorail ran along an extended 1.4-kilometer track at the China Sky Railway in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province on Monday. It's the second test run since September. And test runs will continue for tens of thousands of kilometers.
The panda-faced vehicle is China's first elevated monorail driven by lithium batteries. The environmentally-friendly train can run at a speed of 60 kilometers an hour and carry around 230 passengers. And the cost per kilometer is one-fifth to one-eighth that of underground rail.
