More than 1,000 people are gathered in Shanghai for the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang opened the event with Doctor Margaret Chan, the director-general of the World Health Organization. Li highlighted the role of health promotion in global sustainable development.

Delegates include ministers and mayors from more than 120 countries and officials from 19 international organizations.

A major declaration will be announced, as well as a consensus that creates a united approach for more than 100 cities worldwide.
