Iraq's Defense Ministry says it has received four US fighter jets as part of the military equipment supply contract between the two countries. A senior Iraqi air force official said the new F-16 jets would be used in the fight against ISIL in the north of the country.
The shipment brings Iraq's total stock of F-16s to 12 out of the 36 that Washington agreed to sell to Baghdad. The F-16 is a multi-purpose aircraft that can serve as an air interceptor and a ground attack jet.
