-- The freshest data shows that over 3 billion people around the world are internet users. That's about 40 percent of the world's entire population. About 2.24 billion people living in the G20 member states use the internet. That's higher than the global average level.
-- There are some 710 million internet users in China. That's the most in the world. At the same time, 70 percent of the Chinese population uses mobile phones to connect to the internet.
-- The internet economy is occupying an ever growing part of the G20 members' GDPs. The UK has the biggest internet economy at 12.4 percent of GDP. South Korea and China followed with their internet economies occupying 8 percent and 6.9 percent of GDP, respectively.
-- E-commerce occupies a major part of the internet economy. The total global trade volume of e-retailers reached 1.74 trillion US dollars in 2015. Companies from China, the US and Japan topped the list, occupying 54.8 percent of the total volume. Alibaba, Amazon and eBay were the top performers in the sector.
