UK's Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, David Davis, has confirmed the parliament will vote on legislation to translate EU law into British law, as part of plans to leave the bloc.

He said, "European Union law will be transposed into UK law at the time we leave, providing certainty for workers, businesses and consumers. This will be an act of parliament which we intend to have in place before the end of the Article 50 process. If parliament insists on setting out a detailed minimum negotiating position, that will quickly become the maximum possible offer from our negotiating partners."

The government is maintaining a "certain level of confidentiality" before starting talks to leave the European Union. During a rowdy parliament session, Davis was asked if the government's negotiating position would involve the continued membership of the single market and customs union. The minister said they will announce its position to the public in due course.
