China's top player Ding Junhui lost in the first round to Marco Fu. That is not a big surprise, but his antics after the match have been, as the usually mild-mannered potter let his frustrations get to him after the match facing the press, slamming his fist on the table as he left the media centre.
Ding banged the table in the post-match press area, and only made himself available for questions for about a minute before promptly leaving.
Thursday afternoon Ding adjusted was in a better mood as he returned to the press room to once again face the media. This time the World No.4 explained why he reacted the way he did, and sat for about 15 minutes answering questions, and could be seen smiling.
Despite the early round loss at the China Championship, Ding has had a solid season, winning twice -- the Six-Red International Championships and the Shanghai Masters. He was also a runner-up at the last week's International Championships in Daqing, and the world championship earlier this year in Sheffield, and explained why he acted the way he did.
He said,"I did not get enough rest that day, which affected my mood. I was numb over the result, win or lose I had no feeling. I did not say too much that day. I think I should explain my actions to the public and communicate why I acted that way."
