Chinese lawmakers have released a report on the progress of the country's new law which aims to reward scientific and technological achievements.

The report reveals that the emergence of science and technology incubators and maker-spaces -- a community-oriented workspace where people can share ideas -- have been important to its early success.

By the end of last year, there were more than 2,500 such incubators and almost as many maker-spaces nationwide.

Meanwhile, China is also seeing closer cooperation among colleges, research institutions and enterprises in terms of promoting innovation in science and technology. Last year alone, they offered enterprises nearly 100,000 technical contracts, worth more than 87 billion yuan, or nearly 13 billion US dollars.
