The European Union is giving Belgium till Monday to support a free trade deal with Canada. EU trade negotiators say they are pushing to get Belgium's approval before the deadline set by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
All other EU members support the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada. But Belgium still lacks the backing from its French-speaking region, which is critical of the deal.
Neither Canada nor the EU seem willing to give up on the pact that has been years in the making.
