China's weather authority has issued a typhoon organg alert, as Typhoon Haima is approaching the nation's southern province of Guangdong. Haima is moving fast and expected to bring strong gales and downpours. It is highly likely to land in Guangdong on Friday. Waves of up to six meters are forecast in the waters off the province.
Torrential rain in the Pearl River Delta and eastern part of the province are expected on Friday and Saturday. After its landing, Haima is also expected to bring large scale downpours in the southern part of the lower reaches of Yangtze River, and the Taihu River.
National flood control authority has activated a level three emergency response, and dispacted several work treams to oversee the precautionary work.
