Local flood control authorities say that Typhoon Haima is highly likely to land in south China’s Guangdong province.
Waves of up to six meters are forecast in the waters off Guangdong on Friday. Torrential rain in the Pearl River Delta and eastern part of the province are expected on Friday and Saturday. Authorities also say the typhoon will wreak havoc and cause grave losses.
Haima is moving fast and expected to bring strong gales and downpours. The typhoon will likely trigger secondary disasters.
Four work teams are overseeing the precautionary work.
