To begin with the aftermath of typhoon Megi, a major storm that swept through Taiwan and along China's eastern coast earlier this week. Heavy rains have hampered rescue work in Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces, and threaten to trigger even more floods and landslides.

Typhoon Megi has affected over 1.18 million people in Zhejiang province alone. 236,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. 333 houses have been destroyed. The economic loss is estimated to exceed 2.68 billion yuan.  The weather disaster has disrupted traffic and caused temperatures to suddenly drop in central Hunan province. Local authorities have called on people to prepare for the possibility of more floods and landslides.
