The Chinese currency renminbi's recent fluctuation drew attention in markets. Some are worried about a sudden depreciation of the Yuan. But spokesperson of National Bureau of Statistics says that there is no long-term pressure for yuan to depreciate.
"The Reminbi has depreciated in the short term, which was mainly due to international factors. Recently, the expectation of the U.S. Fed rate hike has been strengthening. Moreover, there are uncertainities in the global economy, which led to a weak recovery worldwide. So these factors brought some pressure on the renminbi. But in the medium and long term, there is no reason for the currency to further depreciate," said Sheng Yunlai, Spokesperson of National Bureau of Statistics.
