President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte will pay a state visit to China from October 18th to 21st, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Spokesperson for the foreign ministry, Geng Shuang, has made a statement about the upcoming visit.

"During President Rodrigo Duterte's visit to China, he will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on developing bilateral ties, and deepening cooperation in all fields. They will also exchange views on international and regional matters of common concern."

"China hopes that President Duterte's visit will help increase the mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and prolong the traditional friendship between the two sides. We hope to address differences through dialogues and promote the strategic cooperation relations on the basis of peaceful development, so as to bring the bilateral ties back to the right track of stable development," Geng Shuang said.
