Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has likened his deadly crackdown on illicit drugs to the Holocaust.

Duterte said in a speech that he wanted to kill about three million drug addicts and that his move would finish the problem of drug proliferation in his country.

He also rejected American and EU criticism that the deadly killings were extra-judicial in nature. More than 3,000 people have been killed in police operations and vigilante killings since Duterte took office exactly three months ago.
