China's top male, Zhang Ze went down to Mischa Zverev in the opening round of the Shanghai Masters, but his efforts to help the sport to grow in China continued off the court as he joined over 200 kids from the 2016 Kinder+Sport Children's Tennis Training Camp.
The one-month training camp has expanded in size to include a record of over 1,500 kids this year. Over 200 children joined Zhang at the closing ceremony of the camp.
It's the second year in a row for Zhang to spare time to attend the event during the Shanghai Masters. He interacted with the kids in fun games and teamed up with some lucky ones to play doubles. Zhang hopes more kids could enjoy the sport and get involved.
Zhang said, "I am so happy to have so many kids join me on the tennis court. I am glad to see them enjoy playing tennis and feeling happy."
