We start the hour with the seventh Xiangshan Forum in Beijing, where both China and Russia have blasted the US over its role in deploying the THAAD anti-missile defense system in South Korea.

During a joint press conference, China's Major General Cai Jun said America's development of anti-missile systems and its search for military superiority will damage the world's strategic equilibrium. Cai added that the deployment could lead to a high-level arms race.

Russia said it had doubts about the necessity of such a system in Asia. He called on the US to give legal promises that the deployment is not targeting either country. Meanwhile, both countries agreed to hold a second round of joint anti-missile drills next year. The first such exercise was held in May this year.
