Former president of Israel, Shimon Peres, has died in Tel Aviv at the age of 93. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have extended their condolences to the Israeli government and people and to Mr. Peres' famiy.

In his message, Xi said that Mr. Peres was the founder and an active facilitator of the Middle East peace process, and made positive contributions to the development of ties between China and Israel.
