The United Nations has said it will resume aid deliveries to besieged areas near the Syrian capital of Damascus.

The UN said the inter-agency convoy has been cleared to cross conflict lines across downtown Damascus. The World Health Organization said it will announce the exact location of the convoy as soon as it reaches the rebel-held suburb of Moadamiya.

The announcement comes after the UN imposed a 48-hour suspension of aid deliveries after 18 relief trucks were bombed near Aleppo on Monday.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent said one staff member and 20 civilians were killed in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
