Both Russia and the Syrian army have denied carrying out an airstrike on UN aid convoy near the Syrian city of Aleppo. Around 20 people, including a Red Crescent official, were killed in the attack.

Russia's defense ministry said the bombing took place at the same time as rebels were carrying out a large-scale attack on southwest Aleppo. The Russian military said activists' video showed damage to vehicles that did not come from an airstrike. Syria's official SANA news agency cited Syrian army source as saying there was no truth that the military bombed the convoy.

Following the attack, the UN and the Red Cross postponed aid convoys to Syria. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent has suspended work for three days in protest. The attack on Monday evening came hours after the Syrian military declared an end to a week-long ceasefire.
