Relations between China and the United Kingdom have entered a "golden era". And there has been a special emphasis put on cultural exchanges between the pair. One such example is the display of more than 500 books and periodicals about the Chinese capital in the British Library in London.

Beijing is more than 9,000 kilometers from London. But the distance between the two can also be as short as a book.

Named "A Taste of Beijing", the exhibition presents publications about cultural relics, historical architectures and residences, as well as science books.

All the exhibits are noteworthy for their refined designs and the high value of academic research involved.

Some of the most remarkable ones look at the history of relations between China and the UK.

"The Man Who Loved China" remembers British scientist, historian and sinologist Joseph Needham, who was one of the most renowned experts during the early years of the People's Republic of China.

"I See a New China" is a bilingual book by Oxford graduate George Hogg, who portrayed his experiences in a northern base during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom. With a history of more than 260 years, it's the nation's most important database of academic research. Its current Chinese publication collection exceeds 100 thousand volumes, and a fifth of them are ancient books.

"A Taste of Beijing" has also been held in New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore.
