China's quality watchdog said Wednesday that the China unit of Samsung Electronics will recall 1,858 Galaxy Note 7 smart phones.
The recall came after the Korean company's new mobiles were found to have faulty batteries prone to catching fire. Also on Wednesday, China's civil aviation authority said that it would ban the use and charging of Galaxy Note 7s on all flights.
The authority said, too, that the smart phones could not be placed in checked-in baggage. In addition, Chinese airlines will no longer be allowed to ship any recalled Note 7s or their batteries.
