A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense elaborated on the new force at a press conference after the ceremony. The spokersperson said the move marks the establishment of a modern joint logistics support system that will accelerate military development.

"The new force will be the main force for providing joint logistics support to strategic operations, and a significant part of the modern military system with Chinese characteristics. We will accelerate the building of the army, based on principles of joint combat, training and support, in order to build a strong, modern force," Yang Yujun, spokesperson of China's Ministry of National Defense, said.
