Still on the subject of cutting-edge technology, China's military is showcasing its impressive range at the 5th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Experts believe the integration of China's military capabilities with the country's civilian needs could be a real driver of economic growth in the years to come.
This game-changing technology is called a "neutron generator for well logging". It was first used in the military. Starting in the 1990s, the technology has been put to civil use worldwide.
Zhang Xiaolong and other scientists are applying it to detecting oil and gas resources.
He said, "Our products are able to perform very stably in temperatures under 150 degrees. The technology that we have has the highest level among such products in China."
They've been cooperating with the country's largest offshore oil and gas producer- China National Offshore Oil Corporation -- since 2013. The technology is now attracting attention at the 2016 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Many of the technologies here were also originally for military use.
"We have more than 100 investors coming to see the competition. I think the competition will give people a better understanding that military-civilian integrated development should rely on the roles of the market, reform and innovation," said Chen Guangming, deputy director of 5th China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.
Analysts say the military-civilian integration could become a new driver of economic growth, boosting multiple industries from aviation and cyber-security to medical health. They say it could boost multiple industries to the tune of a trillion yuan in the yearsto come.
