In a couple of hours, the first South American Paralympic Games will kick off its opening ceremony. Earlier, the Chinese delegation showed their excitement and confidence during the Paralympic's national flag-raising ceremony.

The Paralympic Games' welcome performance featured Brazilian music and South American culture and flair.

The chair of China's Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Haidi, accompanied China's Paralympic delegation to this year's flag raising ceremony.

Zhang confidently named 28-year-old fencing champion Rong Jing to be China's flagbearer during the opening ceremony.

"We have chosen Rong Jing, the world champion of wheelchair fencing at the 2012 London Paralympics, to be China's flagbearer at the opening ceremony. I think she can fully represent our Paralympic spirit," she said.

"It's a surprise as well as a great honor to be the flagbearer. I will try to do my best at the Games and enjoy my stay here in Rio," Rong Jing said.

China's sitting volleyball team are standing world champions. With the tournament just around the corner, they take every opportunity to practice on the Olympic court.

Team leader Liu Jin says her players have adjusted to their new environment and are ready to compete for the gold.

"We've been here in Rio for more than half a month and we've adjusted to the environment and the court. The team spirit is high and we are ready to compete in the Games," he said.

China's Five-a-side Football Squad won the silver back in 2008. Coach Zou Hongmou says, with Russia out of the Games, this year will be different. But his men are in good form and ready to play.

"We know very little about Russia, and only played against them once. Spain is much more familiar to us. We are old rivals. Our players have shown good form so far. They have put their jet lag behind them," he said.

China has sent 308 athletes to compete in 328 events at this year's Paralympics. It is the largest Paralympic delegation that China has ever sent overseas.
