Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia's far east. They're holding talks on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
This is Putin and Abe's second meeting this year. They were expected to discuss economic cooperation and revive territorial talks.
The long-standing dispute over four islands in the Pacific Kuril chain has prevented the two countries from sigining a peace treaty to end wartime hostilities, hindering trade and investment ties. Putin says both parties are willing to resolve the dispute.
