Full coverage: G20 Hangzhou Summit

Lao President Bounnhang Vorachit says the upcoming G20 summit is a platform for China to play a leading role in key areas. Among these are global cooperation, financial and economic issues, and support for less-developed countries. He said he was glad to be invited to the meetings.

He said, "I am glad and honored to attend the G20 Summit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting is very important. I value past and future ties between China and Laos."

"This year has a special meaning. We have just held a series of activities to mark the 55th anniversary of Sino-Laos diplomatic ties. It marks closer cooperation between the two countries. Top-level exchanges have become more frequent."
