Chinese have long admired the lotus for its beauty, elegance and fragrance.

And now is the best time to take a stroll and enjoy them in their glory as the flowers are in full bloom.

Elevated wooden platforms and bridges have been put in place to allow visitors to get closer look of the flowers.

As the sun sets, the flowers complete the ideal image of the classic Chinese gardens.

"In ancient time, there used to be a winery on the bank and people could enjoy the fragrance of the lotus flower over a good cup of wine. Now the winery has been abandoned but more lotus flower started to grow in the area," one visitor said.

This year over 250 different spieces of lotus flowers are on display. Some came from overseas such as Thailand and the US. Others were cultivated by local botanists.

Visitors also have the opportunity to make flower arrangements using lotus seedpods.
