Protests against the deployment of the THAAD anti-missile defense system have moved beyond Seongju county to the central city of Kimchon.

Around 8,000 people gathered in a local stadium to protest against the possible deployment of the anti-missile shield at a golf course near Kimchon. Organizers said they won't tolerate the government risking the lives of the town's 140,000 residents.

After strong opposition to plans to install the system in Seongju, Kimchon has been tipped as an alternative site.
