Plenty of buzz at Rio's Maria Lenk Aquatic Center, but not because of the perfect dives. Despite days of clean-up efforts by the organizers, the water in the diving pool was still green.

"I'm sorry that I didn't get all the details but I understand you want to understand the next steps with the water at the Maria Lenk venue. We're moving to a more radical approach with the water; part of the water in the main pool will be replaced later in the evening," said Rio 2016 spokesman Mario Andrada.

On Tuesday, the water in the diving pool turned bright green, baffling competitors and spectators alike. The head of the Rio 2016 organizing committee said it was due to a sudden decrease in alkaline levels and guaranteed the safety of the water. But despite clean-up efforts, the water has not changed from its greenish tinge. Andrada said the pool would be drained and replaced with nearly a million gallons of clear water before the start of the synchronized swimming event on Sunday.
