China's Chen Xinyi has failed a doping test at the Rio Games. The news confirmed earlier by the Chinese Swimming Association. The 18-year-old took part in the women's 100-metre butterfly final, finishing fourth, was found to have hydrochlorothiazide in her sample.
The substance in her system is classified as a diuretic, which increases urination and reports claim it can be used as a masking agent. Chen has applied to the IOC to have her "B" sample tested, and a hearing will be held after that.
