A record number of developing countries will attend the G20 Summit in east China's Hangzhou city in early September. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China has invited five developing countries to the G20 Hangzhou Summit: Chad, Laos, Senegal, Egypt and Kazakhstan.

He made the remarks after meeting with his Lao counterpart in Beijing. Wang added that he's confident the summit will be a success.

"The summit is one month away and the preparatory work has entered the sprinting stage. It's a very important home venue for China's diplomacy and a globally-focused event. I would like to inform you that the preparations are carrying on smoothly and we are confident of a successful summit," Wang said.
