The Olympic torch has just arrived in Rio de Janeiro, finishing its long pilgrimage from Greece. The Olympic flame will spend three days going through key locations in the Games' host city and nearby areas, before lighting up the Olympic pyre on August 5th.
About 600 people will participate in the torch relay, which will travel 90 kilometers in the city before Friday. The list of bearers include celebrities from music, sport, literature, art and medicine.
The torch bearers are not confined to the elite. People from all walks of life will have the chance to represent their city. The torch relay has been disrupted in other cities across Brazil by protesters opposing the Games.
