Problems continue to plague both the infrastructure and political scene in Brazil, but it's been smooth sailing for record-setting Chinese mariner Guo Chuan. The skipper who was the first from the world's most populous nation to circumnavigate the globe, arrived in Rio -- on the one-year anniversary of Beijing winning the right to host the 2022 Winter Games.
Guo is now an ambassador for that Olympiad. He arrived after a 15-day trans-Atlantic journey in his maxi tri-maran "Beijing Time." His vessel bears the number 2022, in honour of the Games to be held in China's capital.
And as the ambassador for that event, he is "Promoting Peace Through Sport Around the Olympic Truce." Once he leaves Rio, Guo will attempt to break the trans-Atlantic solo record, which stands at five days and two hours, but for now -- he is just happy to cheer on his compatriots.
