China's southern island province of Hainan is bracing itself for the third typhoon to hit the region this year.
Typhoon Mirinae is expected to bring gale-force winds and torrential rain to Hainan, the Leizhou Peninsula, southwestern Guangdong, and southeastern parts of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. China's National Meteorological Center has issued a blue-alert with Mirinae expected to make landfall on Tuesday night.
Transport authorities have halted suspended ship and rail services. Heavy rain is also expected to ground planes at Haikou airport.
