Russia is expecting to avoid a blanket ban from the International Olympic Committee on its competitors at the Rio Olympics, after its track and field squad lost an appeal over suspension for state-sponsored doping.
The Kremlin said all sportsmen who have not been convicted, or are not under suspicion of doping should have the right to compete at the upcoming Rio games. The IOC's executive board will hold a conference call this Sunday to discuss banning Russia from the games.
IOC President Thomas Bach has heard calls from national anti-doping agencies in United States, Canada and Germany to ban Russia. Moscow called this a part of a broader political campaign by the West against Russia.
