Now it's time to check out what's happening in the world of fashion. New York is the world's fashion capital, but here comes a challenger, China. CCTV takes you to a Chinese textile trade fair in New York to find out the trends for next season.
When it comes to fashion, New York has design, while China has the craftsmanship.
The US is China's top textile export destination. But the big seller of textile products is offering something new to its customers.
"It's not all about labor intensive work in China's textile industry. Sewing clothes is labor intensive, and we are losing our advantages. But we now have better capabilities and more sufficient funding in the R&D of new fabrics," said Gao Yong, vice chair of China Textile Industry Association.
Quality control means business.
"We weave and dye the silk products in China in our own factories, which allows us to have better quality control management. And we have price advantages," said Xu Mingqi, silk maker from China.
And a little innovation goes a long way.
China's textile exports dropped for the first time in 6 years in 2015, dragged down by the sluggish economies of export destinations, rising labor costs and a shift of production overseas.
Analysts say the global textile industry is in the middle of a transformation in supply chain and consumer trend. And that's exactly a chance for China to rebuild its name in the world of fashion and textiles with quality products and cheaper prices.
