Two Chinese peacekeepers have been killed and six others injured in a bomb attack during the clashes in the South Sudanese capital of Juba. The Chinese foreign ministry said the soldiers were on a mission when their armored vehicle was hit by a bomb. According to South Sudan's Health Ministry, at least 270 people have been killed since late Thursday. That's when the clashes between forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and those aligned with Vice President Riek Machar began.

"Chinese Foreign Ministry and the embassy in South Sudan has already taken emergency measures to ensure the safety of Chinese organizations and citizens in the country. Chinese Foreign Ministry and the embassy in South Sudan separately met their ambassador in China and government officials. We asked the them to take effective measures to protect Chinese citizens' life and property safety. China urged both sides in conflict to stop violence immediately and strictly implement the peace agreement. We also hope they could back to the stable situation as soon as possible to reduce casualties," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang.
