China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has reiterated China's opposition to the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Air Defense or THAAD system in South Korea. He said its use will destabilize the balance on the Korean Peninsula. He urged South Korea to re-think whether the THAAD system is conducive to peace and stability in the region.
"We have a good reason and a fair right to question the motives behind the move. We demand the United States should not seek its own security at the expense of others, let alone harm the legitimate security concerns and interests of other countries under the excuse of security threat," Wang said.
