Euro 2016: $4.2 million dollars confiscated in Chinese police probe

Plenty of money is being bet on these games throughout the world. Some legally, others illegally, and China's ministry of Public Security says they have caught more than 200 people suspected of making illegal wagers. Betting in China is not allowed, but that still hasn't stopped some people from taking make some cash from the matches.

236 suspects from the world's most populous nation have been caught and more than 4-million U-S dollars have been confiscated or frozen in a probe involving overseas gambling sites. Starting in April, authorities in China intensified investigations into suspected web gambling. Since the middle of last month, police busted several rings that organized gambling activities in cities including in Liaoning and Guangdong Provinces. Cracking down on cross-border web gambling has become a regular task for the police as international gambling companies have used overseas gambling websites to develop Chinese agents and attract gamblers in recent years.
