It is a consensus of international society to settle the South China Sea dispute through dialogues and negotiations. But why talks and negotiations are important?
 
"The resolution of any disputes between states, through peaceful means, through negotiations," said Ambassador of Afghanistan Janan Mosazai.

"China what they are doing is promoting the dialogue through all the means," said Juan Carlos Capuñay Chávez, Ambassador of Republic of Peru in China.

"I think that is not a wise approach. I think even the UN Charter advocates negotiations and peaceful means to settle these disputes. So no rational person would support irrational means to settle disputes. I think negotiations, peaceful means are the right way, the right method to resolve disputes. So if we raise tensions or you know, raise irritants, I think it’s not helpful at all. It is better to calm down the situation. It is better to come to the negotiating table and address these issues rather than, you know, try to, sort of, influence the respective approaches through raising the temperature. So I think that is not a wise approach," said Ambassador of Pakistan Masood Khalid.
 
"It’s a principle of Afghanistan’s foreign policy to support the resolution of disputes, the resolution of any disputes between states, through peaceful means, through negotiations, and through consultations and through dialogue. And the joint statement in this regard, specifically with regard to the South China Sea issue, is very clear," said Janan Mosazai.

"They are very understanding that it is not an intention of China to be aggressive or to be abusive. It is just the purpose of China is the reaffirmation that any issue, any problem have (has) to be deal by Asian. Anyone who wants to have an opinion they will need to respect what the Asian does. And secondly that there is not any intention to take any aggressive action because they can see there are more cooperation, there are more dialogue than intention of wars when they talk about,"

"You know in the case of China what I would say is that perhaps what happened is that there are another powers or other countries outside their region that they don't understand or they understand in a wrong way what's happening in the region,"
