Iran’s Islamic Coalition Party, one of the major parties in the country, issued a statement to support Chinese government on the South China Sea issue. Mehdi Soli, deputy of international department of the Islamic Coalition party, stressed that direct talks are the only way to resolve the disputes.
"If two countries in a region have disputes over an issue, they should solve it through direct talks and negotiation first. We think talks are the only solution to the South China Sea issue."
"Countries should not allow outsiders to interfere in regional affairs. It will only cause tensions. Powers from outside the region, for example the US which supports one of the sides involved, arguably do not have the best of intentions," Mehdi Soli said.
