On the back of Brexit, and the continuing drag on global growth, the G20 trade ministers are due to meet in Shanghai early next month with a view to adding some much needed stimulus.
In preparation for that, China’s Ministry of Commerce held a press conference Thursday, and Vice Minister Wang Shouwen said the meeting will focus on strengthening the development of the G20 trade and investment mechanism, promoting global trade, supporting the multilateral trade system, supporting investment policies, as well as establishing an inclusive global value chain.
Wang said that the G20 countries are working on a global trade growth strategy, and details of this would be announced at the two-day meeting, which is scheduled for July 9 and 10.
