In response to Brexit and the continuing downturn of global growth, G20 trade ministers are due to meet in Shanghai on July 9th for proposals for potential stimulus.
China's Ministry of Commerce held a press conference on Thursday to outline preparations ahead of the meeting. Vice Minister Wang Shouwen said the meeting will focus on strengthening the development of the G20 trade and investment mechanism.
"The G20 countries are discussing and drafting a global trade growth strategy, which aims to improve global trade governance, reduce trade costs, enhance trade and investment policy coordination, promote services trade, enhance trade financing, and establish a global trade prospect index. We will also promote e-commerce and carry out actions in trade and investment to turn around the sluggish and negative situation in global trade," Wang said.
