The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank holds its first annual meeting this weekend in Beijing. CCTV spoke to Jin Liqun, president of the AIIB, prior to the meeting.
He said the agency would engage more global capital and other multilateral development banks. He also said economies around the world have shown their support to the agency.
He vowed to set high standards in operations through action instead of words. He also refuted concerns that AIIB would challenge the current global financing system.
He said, "The multi-lateral development banks all welcome the birth of newly set-up banks like AIIB. Because the current system cannot meet the demand. So they welcome us."
"They also believe that we can work together. The doubts are not necessary. What they actually hope is to have this sibling develop healthily, which would stimulate them to improve."
