China's president Xi Jinping is in the Uzbek capital Tashkent for the annual Shanghai Cooperation Orgainization summit. Ahead of the event, he met with various world leaders.
Talks with Pakistan's president Mamnoon Hussain resulted in both countries agreeing to boost construction on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Hussain said Pakistan supports China's stance on issues such as the South China Sea, Taiwan and Tibet.

Xi also spoke with president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, where boosting cooperation in the energy sector and jointly combating terrorism were discussed.

Xi also held talks with Mongolian president Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. Both leaders vowed to boost development of border ports and transportation. Xi said bilateral trade volume should reach 10 billion dollars by 2020.

Talks with president of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, resulted in both sides continuing to enhance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Rahmon said Tajikistan supports China's position on the South China Sea dispute, which should not be an international issue.
