German Chancellor Angela Merkel said more expert-level talks on China's market economy status under the World Trade Organization is needed. Merkel said this Monday at a news briefing with China's Premier Li Keqiang.
At the sametime, Li said China did not want a trade war with the European Union, and the trade disputes were a small part of trade ties. Merkel also said Germany expects China's market to be open more to foreign investment. The trip is Merkel's ninth one to the Chinese capital since she took office in 2005.
